- Diplomacy moves forward in Gaza;
- New: the IDF now needs specific permission from the political establishment. Strikes in Gaza were controlled, focused on militants who were active in Oct 7; now the strikes are further reduced;
- Board of Peace will attempt to oversee all the points including Hamas’ disarmament (a long shot).
October 2024, twelve months after Oct 7, the Knesset (120-seat parliament of Israel, the Legislative Branch) passed a law cancelling the UN from operating its UNRWA an more. It has long been known that this UN body supported terrorists who wish to destroy Israel and all Jews. Some UNRWA employees had a dual paycheck as teachers, doctors, nurses, while also paid as members of militant groups such as Islamic Jihad and Hamas.
After Oct 7, Israel’s patience ran out for these shenanigans. The law was passed no sweat.
Opponents to the law went to the High Court, but petitioners failed to show any evidence to the High Court that this legal ban caused any real harm to anyone.
