At 7 pm Sunday during prayers for Yom Kippur, an attacker fired 30 rounds fired at the police guarding a Canadian synagogue, striking the officer. The officer returned fire and hit the assailant.
“…Witness accounts and the preliminary investigation indicated that as many as 30 rounds were fired. A police cruiser, other vehicles, and nearby homes were hit…“
Recall that one of the slogans in the riots and “peaceful protests” is, “Globalize the Intifada,” meaning, take the Palestinians’ murderous attacks on Jews to all the nations.
Hours earlier in Israel, Netanel Shukrun took one of his sons to bathe in a spring, according to the strict religious observance of Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). An Arab came specifically to hunt for such a Jew. From his car, he shot Netanel dead in his own car, then fled and was later caught by the IDF.
In a government meeting prior to starting the Fast of Yom Kippur, Netanyahu and other ministers had a discussion with military leaders. According to military law, so far they did not see any legal block to prevent the death penalty from being applied in this case.
Death penalty is exceedingly rare in Israel, however, the Israeli parliament (Knesset) has passed a “Death Penalty for Terrorists” Law.
“At the conclusion of the security meeting, the limited cabinet decided to schedule an additional meeting that would include the Military Advocate-General, who was not present at the Sunday meeting. The follow-up will aim to examine the relevant legal and procedural aspects of the case and assess the feasibility of applying the death penalty.” – Jerusalem Post
Meanwhile, also on Yom Kippur, the IDF enforced at least four other counter-terrorism operations, including in Bidda, Kabatiya, and Beir Ur al-Tahta.
At Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville, Ontario, the 24 Jews praying at the synagogue were not harmed, but the armed guard is hospitalized and will require a long road for recovery:

It made hate-motivated crime a specific offense and created a crime of intimidating people to keep them from a place of worship, punishable by up to 10 years…“
“…Shukrun lived in the settlement of Alei Zahav in the northern West Bank, the Samaria Regional Council said.
“He went to the natural spring with his eldest son to immerse in the water before Yom Kippur.
“Shukrun worked as a systems information analyst, while his wife Meirav is a lecturer at Ariel University.
“‘A man of kindness, humble and a lover of people, was murdered just after he finished immersing [in the spring] with his son ahead of Yom Kippur. These barbarians will never break us — we will build our land even more,’ said Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan…“
