…at least, not according to Israel’s far-Right. To this thinking, if Hamas was truly “done” with fighting, and desperate to see an end to the war, they surely would have returned the POWs nineteen months ago; seeing as Hamas has not done so, and no Gazan civilian has accepted the offer of $50,000 cash plus resettlement in a different country of their choice for each POW returned, this viewpoint maintains that more military pressure is needed before Gaza will release all 58 POWs.
The far-Left, on the other hand, believes concessions to Hamas are always worthwhile—even for one hostage at a time. What are your thoughts on this?

If the Left wing strategy is used, clearly, Hamas would raise the price of every subsequent hostage, while manipulating Israel to cease hostilities in order to preserve the hostages’ lives. And then of course Hamas will rebuild, sell the food from the aid trucks at exorbitant prices, and hire more fighters as it rebuilds its military.

Francesca Albanese is an Italian international lawyer and academic who was appointed as the United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories on 1 May 2022 for a three-year term, which was then extended until 2028. She is the first woman to hold this position. In her role, Albanese has been critical of Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories and has recommended that UN member states develop a plan to end the occupation and apartheid. She has also faced criticism and threats for her stance, including accusations of antisemitism and anti-Israel bias, though many human rights groups and scholars argue these accusations are illegitimate attempts to discredit her work.
Albanese holds a law degree with honours from the University of Pisa and a Master of Laws in human rights from SOAS University of London. She is an Affiliate Scholar at the Institute for the Study of International Migration at Georgetown University and a senior advisor on Migration and Forced Displacement at the non-profit Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD).
She has been involved in various reports and statements regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including her report to the UN Human Rights Council in March 2024, where she stated that Israel’s actions in Gaza amounted to genocide.

Last week, two Israeli diplomats–Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim–who planned to marry–were gunned down in cold blood on the street in Washington DC; since then, the Jew-haters are increasingly loud. A Jewish magazine (Tablet) had great things to say about Yaron, with the headline:

The event they were attending Wednesday was hosted by the American Jewish Committee for young professionals and was organized to discuss how multi-faith organizations can work together to bring humanitarian aid to war-torn regions like Gaza.
