So, Israel has sent a delegation of negotiators to Doha, Qatar, in an effort to make deals to release hostages and achieve a ceasefire. It’s the 15th of August, 2024. Here are the main points:
- Hamas is not even showing up to the talks
- Israel has sent a delegation to Doha, Qatar, to negotiate
- USA will be there
- Israel has altered its demand for hostages*
* The prior deal was that Israel would receive 33 hostages, dead or alive. Now Israel wants 33 living hostages from Hamas.
According to the proposals, Hamas will still get 990 prisoners who have been convicted of crimes they committed. For the Israeli hostages, their only crime was existing.
